Farahbag

A monument

Farahbag is a luxurious palace in Ahmednagar built during the rule of Murtuza Nizamshah in 1576. It was designed as an opulent haven where wine flowed and even the air would be scented.

The palace, octagonal in shape, is situated in the middle of a square lake. In the days of imperial rule, the central hall of the palace witnessed many languorous evenings of song, dance and merrymaking. Scented water from special tanks was sprinkled all over by fountains. Several great personalities of ancient India are recorded to have come here for fun and relaxation.

Farahbag is close to the Nagar Solapur highway, 4 km from Ahmednagar’s main bus station.
