Eurasian Collard Dove is generally gray-brown with vinous pink flush, particularly on chest. The bird is pale buff above with a prominent black neckband. The squared off tail has a conspicuous black base. The central tail feathers are grayish while the outer half of the tail is pure white. The tri-colored wing pattern of the bird is visible on landing.
The bird builds a flimsy twig nest in trees or on building ledges or in thick bushes. The bird is locally called Ghoogi, Fakhta or Kameri.
