Ettumanoor Festival

Ettumanoor Festival takes place at the Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple, a 16th century shrine at Ettumanoor, 12 km north of Kottayam. This ten-day annual festival is held in the month of Kumbham (February/March). The festivities end on the Thiruvathira day of the same month.

Ezhara Ponnaana Ezhunallathu, a big colorful procession, is held on the eighth day of the festival. The image of Ezhara Ponnaana (the seven and a half golden elephants) representing the eight dik paalakas or the guardians of the cardinal directions are taken out in this procession.
