Ennkann Aarumugaswamy Temple




Ennkann Aarumugaswamy Temple is situated near Nannilam in Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Arumugaswamy (Muruga). The major deity here is Lord Shiva. The legend is that four faced Brahma with 8 eyes (Enn Kann) worshipped Shiva here. The Shanmukhanathar Deva Sabha facing south is behind the sanctum of Bhramapureeswarar (Shiva). The sabha is adorned with an image of Shanmukhar which has 6 faces and small holes in each of the 12 ears for decoration with earrings.

The temple teerthams are Netra Pushkarini, Saravana Poikai, Vriddha Kaveri, Bhrama Teertham and Kumara Teertham. The temple also holds shrines for Dakshinamurthy, Natarajar Sivakami, Kasi Viswanathar, Bhairavar, and Arunachaleswarar. The festivals are held during the Tamil month of Aippasi (October-November) with Skanda Shashti and the annual Brahmotsavam in the month of Thai (January-February). Other festivals celebrated here are Thaipusam, Kartikai Deepam, Arudra Darisanam, Maasi Magam Vaikasi Vishakam and Aadi Pooram.
