Elapully is a village located 12 km from
Palakkad. This village was a home to more than hundreds of Iyer families, whose origin were from Ganapathy agraharam near
Kumbakonam.
The village contains two temples. One is dedicated to Navaneetha Krishnan and the second one established by Koti Sastrigal is dedicated to Bala Parameshwari. It also holds the credit of being the home for many personalities. Among them, the main personality is the Subrahmanya Iyer, who translated Soundarya Lahari into
Malayalam. Another great Vedic scholar is Sri Ramakrishna Sastrigal.
The village is famous for the Vaikunta Ekadashi. This grand festival is celebrated for five days. The highlight of this festival is the Ratholsavam on the Ekadasi day.
