Ekteswara Temple is a highly revered shrine of
Lord Shiva, located at Ekteswara in
Bankura District of
West Bengal. This temple stands on the banks of
Dwarakeswar River, about 4 km from
Bankura.
This beautiful shrine looks like a massive solid pillar. There is a Shivling and an image of Lord Shiva, which has one foot and two hands. This temple is a good specimen of the Rekha-deul type without shikhara. The significant feature is that the walls of the temple are denuded of carvings.
The annual festival celebrated in the month of Chaitra (March-April) attracts thousands of people from far-off places.
The convenient railway station and bus atation are at Bankura, 185 km north-west of Kolkata.
