Church of the Capuchins in
Pondicherry is dedicated to St Peter. It was started as a chapel outside the Government Park in 1686. Later the church was re-named St Lazar and it served as a parish church till 1729. It is the only building that survived the destruction of the town by the British.
Mass is held at 05:15 and 06:15 hrs from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, benediction and mass are held at 17:00 hrs. The church feast is held during November 29 – December 8.
