Durgapur




Durgapur is a marvelous village, 2 km east of Nawashahr in Jalandhar District. This village is famous for a renowned gurdwara named Gurdwara Patshahi Chhevin.

Guru Hagobind, the last Sikh Guru, is believed to have made this village sacred by his blessed visit. Guru is said to have arrived here in 1635. The gurdwara has been raised here to commemorate the visit of the Guru. Built in 1950, the gurdwara has a mosaic floored hall and verandah. Pieces of glazed tiles are used to adorn the dome.

By road, Rupnagar is at 25 km from here. Amritsar International Airport is the nearest airport.
