Durga Temple




Built in the pagoda style, Durga Temple at Manan is notable for its unique architecture. The presiding deity is goddess Durga. The carved ceiling of the entry porch is beautifully painted with aluminum paint, enamel red, yellow, black, and other bright colours. The interior is adorned with intricate carvings of Hindu deities and tribal gods. The mandapa of this temple has two roofs built in irimoya (hip and gable) style. The bhandar (store house) with its painted wooden fringes is one of the most ornate in Himachal Pradesh. Manan is 50 km down the road from Rampur to Shimla. The nearest railhead is at Shimla, about 134 km from Rampur.
