Drongiri is a popular Jain pilgrim center (Siddha-Kshetra), situated on a small hill near Drongiri village, 7 km from Malhara in
Chhatarpur District,
Madhya Pradesh. The Jain temples attract hundreds of pilgrims and tourists every year. The main deity is the 2 ft white idol of
Adinatha in the Padmansana posture. Around Drongiri there is a wealth of rare medicinal and aromatic plants.
Drongiri is famous as the place where the Jain saint Gurudatta performed severe penance and attained enlightenment. Gurudatta's foot-idols are preserved and worshipped in a cave here.
Drongiri finds mention in numerous historical and religious documents. There is no real evidence for the antiquity of this place, but the temple architecture and ancient ruins on the hill endorse its centuries-old history.
From the foot of the hills there is an ascent of one kilometer to the temple. Steps have been built on the hill for an easier climb. There are facilities for accomodation at the foot of the hill.
