Drona Shiva Temple is an ancient temple located at Shiva Baadi in Ambota village of
Solan District,
Himachal Pradesh. This shrine perched on the top of a small hillock, is surrounded by a clump of dense trees. The presiding deity of the temple is
Lord Shiva worshipped in the form of a
Shivling.
The Shivling is believed to have been installed by Guru Dronacharya about 5,000 years ago. Tradition recounts that Guru Dronacharya’s little daughter worshipped Shiva at this spot. The little girl soon obtained the blessings of Lord Shiva and a temple was erected at the same place by Dronacharya.
Two rows of samadhis are seen on the far side of the temple courtyard and are dedicated to sages such as Gangagiri, Ichchagiri, Tameshwargiri, Somagiri and Harigiri.
To reach Ambota, Solan Railway Station is the convenient railhead. Shimla Airport is the nearby airport.
