The Dree festival of the
Apatani Tribe of
Arunachal Pradesh is celebrated every year in July amidst great pomp and rejoicing. The festival is held at a time when young paddy plants grow into lush green. Goddesses of the earth and the crops are propitiated for a better crop and for an all round prosperity and welfare of the society. Community feasts, drinking Ho (a beverage) and dances such as Pakhu-Itu are the main features of the festival.
