Dosa Thoi! Long Nai is a religious dance of
Assam held in April. It is performed during the Bathou Puja or worshipping God
Shiva. In this folk dance the priestess called Deodhani dances with a bowl on her head in which the blood of a sacrificed fowl is kept. The legend behind the dance is that while the Deodhani performs this dance in a trance, Lord Shiva will snatch away the bowl and drink the blood.
