Dimasa Tribal Costume

The Dimasa tribes are known for their silk production and weaving skills. Their ‘endi,’ which is fabric woven by mixing cotton with silk, is considered the best in the country. They weave their own clothes, conforming to their tradition.

A Dimasa woman dresses herself in a skirt, locally called as 'rigu', and a 'rijamphai', which is a decorative vest-like cloth. On special occasions, the women attires in the 'rikhaosa,’ which is a more elaborate version of the ‘rijamphai.’

A Dimasa man dresses up in a ‘risha,’ which is loin cloth of deep green color. He uses a vest, called ‘rimsao,’ for covering his upper body. On the head, he wears a turban woven from pure cotton or ‘endi.’
