Dhyan Chand, known as 'the Hockey Wizard,' is famous for his contribution in the field of sports. He worked a lot to raise the status of Indian Hockey in the eyes of the world. He was born on August 29, 1906, in
Allahabad,
Uttar Pradesh.
First he played hockey for the army. He was included in the Indian Hockey team for the 1928 Amesterdam Olympics. Dhyan Chand was held in high esteem not only in the country but also abroad. He won gold medal in 3 successive Olympic games: Amesterdam Olympics 1928, Los Angles Olympics 1932 and Berlin Olympics 1936. He achieved the not yet broken record of winning 101 goals in the Olympic Games and 300 goals in other international matches. Dhyan Chand died in 1979.
