Dhwani Peformance and Arts Education, a center for the performing arts, was founded by Vaswati Misra (exponent of
Kathak, choreographer and teacher) in 1984 at
New Delhi. It aims to foster excellence in the performing arts by giving proper training for talented artists. In pursuit of this aim, Vaswati Misra has started an arts education center, named Pandit Shambhu Maharaj Kathak Academy, a school for the underprivileged (Zaroorat), a school of theater (
Bhaav) and a monthly performance and education series (Pehchaan). She has organized and presented many dance and music festivals and also choreographed dances for the republic day parade.
