Dhruvaas are one of the important tribal groups in the
Bastar District of
Chhattisgarh. They prefer the name Dhruvaas to 'Parjaas,' their other name. Agriculture is the main occupation of the tribe. Men and women, young and old use tobacco and liquor. They are caste conscious and do not mix with the tribes they consider to be of 'lower status'. Polygamy is common among them. Feasts and animal sacrifices are part of their customs.
