Dhol is a measuring vessel used in
Assam to measure paddy. It is also known by the name ‘pura’ in
Cachar District.
Its holding capacity is specified in terms of ‘seer,’ a traditional unit almost equaling a kilogram. People prefer to make this vessel rather than purchase it from the market.
This vessel, almost conical in shape, is made of fine bamboo strips. The bottom is fitted with a ring to provide a supporting base.
