Dhiker is a dance form practiced by the islanders of
Lakshadweep. It has religious and social importance. Dhiker has been associated with the socio-religious life of the islanders for long. The dancers play the Thara to accompany the Dhiker. Leng, the song sung by the dancers has religious significance. Each dancer, carrying a thara in his left hand, keeps pace, both in his beat and movements, with the singer called the lengverin.
