Dharana is one of the eight steps in the path of yoga as mentioned in the Yoga Sutras. The other seven are yama,
niyama, asana, pranayama,
pratyahara, dhyana and samadhi. Dharana, along with dhyana and samadhi, are the three advanced stages of concentration.
Dharana practice involves, keeping a steady mind, and maintaining proper concentration. There are many techniques prescribed for mastering Dharana.
