Dehatis are an agricultural tribe settled in the states of
Bihar and
Orissa. The main source of living is agriculture and the Dehatis speak a language known as Dehati Maithili, a group of the Indo-Aryan language family. Their custom allows marriage within the same caste. Most them follow
Hinduism and worship the deities of
Shiva,
Vishnu,
Brahma and goddess
Shakti.
