Dawar Bakhsh was the son of Khusru, the eldest son of Mughal emperor Jahangir. Dawar Bakhsh ascended the throne in the year 1627 on the death of Jahangir. He reigned as the emperor for a short period of 3 months. He gave up the throne, in the favor of Shah Jahan, the third son of Jahangir and retired to Persia.
