Datta Mandir

Datta Mandir, dedicated to Lord Dattatreya, is situated at Dewas in Madhya Pradesh. Shrimant H.H.Rukhmangadrao Maharaj Pawar Dewas Senior laid foundation of this temple. The black stone idol of Lord Dattatreya having one head and six arms is the main deity. At the foot of the main idol there is an image of a cow and a dog. It is the only image of this sort in India. This temple is known and worshipped as 'Guru Gharana' by the royal family. The highlight is an Akhand Jyothi, the uninterrupted oil lamp, which has been burning in the sanctuary since very beginning. Ashadi Poornima and Shri Datta Jayanti are the main festivals celebrated here. The graves of Shri Jayaram Maharaj and Trimbak baba Maharaj are located within the temple complex.
