Dakor is a pilgrimage center on the banks of the river Shedhi in
Kheda District of
Gujarat. It is about 94 km from both
Vadodara and
Ahmedabad.
Dakor is famous for the Ranchhodraiji temple, which was built in 1772. Thousands of devotees visit this holy temple every month on Poonirma.
Dakor is also a major center for trade. There are a number of shops that sell sweets offered to the deity, and devotional articles such as rosaries of Tulsi beads, toys and pictures of deities. Household articles of iron and wood are also available. Plates made from dry Khakhara leaves are exported in large quantities. In addition, there is also a rubber factory and a rice mill.
On every Tuesday, cattle from different parts of the region are brought to the market here for sale.
Dakor is connected to Nadiad and Godhra by a state highway. It is 33 km from Nadiad and 30 km from Anand. Dakor Railway Station is on the Anand - Godhra broad gauge railway line.
