Chakmas have a system of clans called Goja. The head of the goja is known by different names - Dewan, Talukdar, Karbai, and Khisa. There are certain pujas performed by the Chakmas. Than-Mana is one of the worships of chakmas. They perform a puja by name bura para in order to keep away evil. For the well being of the family, Chakmas perform the Chungulang at the interval of two or three years. In addition to the above pujas, chakmas perform Lakshmi Puja, Parameswari Puja, and Ganga Puja.
Girls in the Chakma groups are married at the age of 15-16. On the occasion of wedding there is a system of paying a bride-price to the father of the girl. The bride is well dressed and ornamented with the jewels they get from the groom's house. As the newly wedded couple reach the groom's house, they are received with prayers. The man and wife are tied together with a new piece of cloth.
On death, the body is covered with a white cloth and placed in a room outside the house. Prayers are told by Buddhist monks. The funeral fire is set by the eldest son. After six days of the burial, Sraddha, a feast given to the monks and relations, takes place.
