Cumballa Hill, the home to
Mumbai's crème-de-la-crème, is one of the most fashionable and desirable addresses in the city. It still exudes an old world charm, quite contrary to the modern high rise constructions around. The place is a veritable treasure trove of architectural styles ranging from Art Deco, Classical and Colonial to Vernacular and mixed styles.
Cumballa Hill were full of fruit orchids till the 1850s. The rich started migrating to this place after the construction of the Peddar, Gowalia Tank, Warden and Ridge Roads in the early 1900s. Though new buildings propped up along the Peddar Road in the course of time, rows of old constructions can still be seen along the other roads.
