Crematorium Of The Ancient Sohra Chiefs




Pomsohmen is a small hamlet of Cherrapunjee (Sohra), situated about 52 km from Shillong, in East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya. The place is famous for being home to two structures of cultural importance.

Built around 1856, these structures were built of fine stone masonries. One is the crematorium of the mother of the ruling Syiems (chiefs) known as ‘Ka Syiem Sad’.
