Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary




Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary is about 20 km from Kakinada and 70 km from Rajahmundry. It lies near Kakinada port in East Godavari District. The sanctuary forms a part of Godavari River and is rich in Mangrove plantation. The remarkable feature of the sanctuary is that it is located on the backwaters of the sea. The sanctuary is famous for reptiles and salt-water crocodiles. It also harbors fishing cats, otters, jackals, estuarine crocodiles, sea turtles and birds such as sea gulls, pelicans, storks, herons, snipes, ducks and flamingos.

The best time to visit is October to May. Forest Rest Houses are available at Kakinada and Rajahmundry. Nearest airstrip is at Rajahmundry and nearest railway station is at Kakinada.
