Conservation Breeding Center




Conservation Breeding Center situated at Darjeeling is an important breeding center for endangered species such as snow leopards and red pandas. The center is situated at a distance of 500 m walk along the Jawahar Road towards the west from the entrance of the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park. The snow leopards are usually found in the mountains of Central Asia and red pandas in the temperate forests of the Himalayas and on some high mountain areas of China. This breeding center houses pairs of these animals in large enclosures, with loads of greenery and provides the habitat common to the caged animals.

Conservation Breeding Center is open to the public from Friday to Wednesday from 8 30 to 16 00 hrs and charges a nominal entrance fee.
