Common Wolf Snake (Lycodon capucinus) is brown in color, weakly banded with white or pale yellow. There is a distinctive pale yellow band at the neck. The labials (lip scales) are pale yellow and the belly is white. The snake feeds on geckos, lizards and frogs.

The species inhabits forested areas but is commonly seen in parks and gardens or close to habitation. It is commonly seen throughout India.
