Color Lacquering is a process used to give colorful marble-style finish to a wooden article. This art is practiced in
Gujarat.
Resin used for this process is heated and kneaded into dough. The required color is added to it. The wooden article is smoothened and placed on a rotating lathe. Resins of different colors are applied to the rotating object using a stick. Precise timing and positioning of the stick is required for producing the right pattern.
The wooden article is given a marble finish by polishing it with a bamboo edge followed by a finishing touch using oiled rag.
