Coin Museum is a small museum situated in the Indian Institute of Research in Numismatic Studies, in
Nasik,
Maharashtra. It is situated against the beautiful backdrop of Ajneri Hills. The main aim of the museum is to promote coin collection in India.
The museum has a fine collection of researched and well-documented history of Indian currency. The collection includes photographs, articles, line drawings and real coins. Dioramas depicting coin minting and coin manufacturing techniques, including casting and machine-striking are also on exhibit.
The museum provides a clear-cut picture of the evolution of currency system in India. Bronze, terracotta and copper-hoard objects and paintings are the other artifacts on display.
Coin Museum offers various workshops to promote coin collectors.
The museum is open from 9:30 to 13:00 hrs and 14:00 to 17:30 hrs daily, except Sundays and public holidays.
