Goa offers a range of coconut palm products. Masks carved out of coconut shells are well known. It forms a valuable souvenir for the tourists. Tender leaves are used for decorative purposes and making the headdresses for folk arts. Midribs of the leaves are used by the handicraft industry.
Ropes are made from coir and the midribs of coconut leaves. The midribs bound together form excellent brooms. Coconut timber is used in the making of furniture, wall panels and other similar items. Houses in the rural areas boasts thatched roofs made from plaited coconut leaves.
