Chukkuvellam is the colloquial name of a medicated drinking water in
Kerala. It is prepared from Chukku (dry ginger) and has carminative and digestive properties. Chukkuvellam is made by boiling water with dry ginger. It is served slightly hot and has a turbid appearance. Chukkuvellam increases appetite, digests foods and clears abdominal discomforts.
