Christian College Chengannur is one of the top rating institutions situated at
Chengannur in
Alappuzha District. It was founded in 1964 by late Rev Mathews Mar Athanasius Episcopa of the Mar Thomas Syrian Church of Malabar.
Affiliated to the University of Kerala, the college offers a three year under graduate courses in English, history, economics, mathematics, physics, chemistry, botany and zoology. The subjects belonging to the post graduate courses include English, economics, physics and analytical chemistry. Part-time career diploma courses in Computer Applications and Communicative English are very active.
Apart from academics, the college gives ample encouragement for extra curricular activities. It houses a unit of NCC (National Cadet Corps) along with the units of NSS (National Service Scheme) and Women's Cell.
Chengannur is beautiful town at the extreme east part of the district, 117 km north of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala. Chengannur Railway Station, situated close to the bus stand, is the nearest railhead.
