Chowki Naach




Chowki Naach is a religious dance performed to propitiate the Kul-Devta (family deity) by local folks of Rajouri District, Jammu and Kashmir. The dance is similar to Dogri folk dance ‘Fummaniyan’. The dance is performed by people from all communities which displays a nice picture of communal harmony and natural integration. The dance is conducted in the temple or some other place where they join on a particular date and perform Jaatar with iron chains (Saunglan) in their hands. Chowki Naach is accompanied by devotional songs.
