Choleshwar Temple



Choleshwar Temple was built by a Chola King to commemorate the invasion upto Bhatkal during the 10th century. The temple has an attractive Balipitha (place where offerings are made) and an altar. There is a monolithic pillar with a small Nandimantapa at its top. The walls are engraved in Tamil. This temple is supposed to be the oldest temple of the town, which stands intact proclaiming the greatness of the history and cultural heritage of India.
