Chhota Imambara

Chhota Imambara, also known as Husainabad Imambara, is located west of Bara Imambara in Lucknow. A classic example of the magnificence of Mughal architecture, it was built by Nawab Mohammad Ali Shah during the 19th century.

Among the numerous minarets, the golden dome arrests the attention of the visitor. Chandeliers from India and abroad, exhaustive collection of tazias, the silver throne of the Nawab and numerous decoratives adorn the Imambara.

Tombs of Nawab Mohammad Ali Shah and his mother are seen inside. Verses from Holy Quran are inscribed on the walls and are fine examples of calligraphy.

A rectangular tank in the large courtyard has small imitation of Taj Mahal.
