Chethiyagiri Vihara Festival




Chethiyagiri Vihara Festival is celebrated by the people of Sanchi in Raisen District, Madhya Pradesh, in November. During this time hundreds of pilgrims come here to see the relics of the two great disciples of the Buddha, Sariputta and Mahamogallena. These relics where discovered from the Stupa 3 which is now placed in the vihara. These relics are brought out during the festival and the pilgrims come to pay their homage.

The nearest railhead is at Vidisha, 10 km away and the airport is at Bhopal, 46 km away from Sanchi. It is also well-linked by roads.
