Cheru Nalussery Kavu

Cheru Nalussery Kavu is a temple located at Nalussery in Palakkad District. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavati.

The temple has an interesting history. Every day, an old woman of Ponpillavil house and Pulapetta Nethearama used to travel a long distance for worshipping Pariyanampetta Devi. One day it so happened that they became tired on their way and kept the nivedyam on the ground. Suddenly the pot with the nivedyam sunk into the ground and a voice came out telling that "Worship here I am satisfied". Thus the place came to be known as Cheru Nalussery Kavu.

Long back, there was a fight between two families for the authority of the temple. As a remembrance of this battle, every year on the Malayalam month of Dhanu, a competition swordfight at Padakali Parambu is held.

The temple can be approached from Palakkad, about 35 km away. Palakkad Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
