A tribal group, Cheros claims to be the descendants of the
Rajputs and are found predominantly in
Jharkhand and
Bihar.
They are believed to have migrated from the sub-Himalayan tract as they bear the Dravidian physiognomy with light brown complexion. Cheros is sub-divided into Barahazar and Tarahazar, with the former being the superior class. The main source of living is agriculture and the Cheros speak a language that is also called Chero.
