Chaudadanapura




The ancient village of Chaudadanapura is located in Ranebennur taluk of Haveri District. The ancient name of the village was Shivapura and the name Chaudadanapura was given to it in subsequent centuries. According to legends, this village was donated by Shree Basava (a social reformer of the 12th century) to one of his disciples Ambigara Chaudayya, a boatman. Since then the village came to be called Chaudadanapura. This village is known for the Mukteshwara Temple, an exquisite temple with the highest degree of refinement. Chaudadanapura is accessible from Ranebennur. Regular buses ply between Bangalore (295 km) and Ranebennur.
