Chatham Saw Mill is one of the oldest and largest saw mills in Asia. It is owned by the Forest Department. The mill is connected to Port Blair by a bridge. Chatham Saw Mill converts huge firewood into different sizes of timber and supplies to private and government departments at a reasonable price. It also processes ornamental species which is used in the manufacture of furniture and handicraft. It remains as a store-house of timber varieties such as Padauk, Gurjan, Marble, and Satin Wood.
