Chari, also known as pot dance, is one of the popular dance forms of
Rajasthan. It is predominantly played in the regions of
Ajmer and Kishangarh. Chari Dance is generally performed on gay occasions.
The performers, mostly ladies of the Mali-Saini caste, carry brightly lit Chari, or brass pot, on their heads and display many flexible movements of the body. As they move, the dancers create illuminated patterns.
