Situated at an altitude of about 3,800 m, Charatse La is in Ladakh region,
Leh District of
Jammu and Kashmir. The pass is an ideal base in Sham Indus Valley Trek. The pass gives good views of the surrounding mountains. Ascending from the Phobe La Pass the path leads to Sumdo Village and reach Charatse La after crossing the river and a valley. The village of Yangtang is at a shorter distance from the pass. The Rizong Monastery is near the pass.
