Chapel of St Francis Xavier is situated near the
Gate of the College of St Paul, in
Old Goa,
Goa. According to local populace, this chapel was built by Saint Francis himself.
The chapel enshrines the immortal remains of St Francis Xavier in a silver casket, which is inclusive of seven panels, each with two plates adorned with scenes from the life of St Francis Xavier.
It is also believed to be one of the two chapels within the enclosure of St Paul College, dedicated either to St Anthony or St Jerome.
A traditional church, its architecture is of Doric order. It has an altar built of laterite, plastered with lime mortar.
