Chandreshwar Temple

Chandreshwar temple is an ancient temple located on the hill of Chandranath at Paroda. It was built in the 8th century during the reign of the Kings of Bhoja, who ruled South Goa. It is believed that the Bhoja’s capital, Chandrapur was named after Chandreshwar (Lord Shiva). The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva as Chandreshwar, and it is designed in such a way that the moonlight falls directly on the shivling every full moon. The idol is technically curved and installed, so that whenever the moon light falls on it, water oozes from it. The temple chariot is known for its wood carvings.
