Chandi-di-Var

Chandi-di-Var is a song composed by Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth guru in Sikhism. It was written to instill fearlessness in the Sikh community. This song is based on an episode derived from Markandeya Purana, an ancient Hindu text. It depicts the battle fought between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura, the demon king.

Chandi-di-Var is a part of Dasam Granth, a scripture written by Guru Gobind Singh. It is written in Punjabi language. This song was usually sung by the Sikh soldiers on their way to battlefield. However, the recital of this song is a very rare occurrence nowadays. It can be heard only in some religious gatherings.
