Chalitachari is located in Satchand block ('block' is an administrative unit) of South Tripura District. Nearly 2,400 people reside in this area and the people are mostly literate. There is a senior basic school at Chalitachari.
Pilak (a treasure house for Hindu and Buddhist sculptures) and Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary are worth visiting spots in the neighborhood. Lungthung is a historic site close to Chalitachari.
