Chalissery is a village situated on the south-western part of
Palakkad District. It is a hilly region with herbs, fruits, valleys and brooks. Chalissery is bordered by the villages, Kadavallur of
Thrissur District and Alumkode of
Malappuram District. It was once a part of Valluvanadu having a rich history of prosperity and development. It also served as a famous trading center.
Chalissery is also famous for its religious harmony that exists among the people. Arecanut and coconut plantations are the major cultivations. It also cultivates paddy and plantain. Mulayam Parambu Bhagavati Temple situated here is one of the famous temples. Some of the other major nearby attractions include a Shiva Temple and the ruins of a mud fort situated near Thrithala.
Chalissery is around 50 km north of Thrissur and around 75 km west of Palakkad.
